Updated December 2011
Thank you to all the BRA P & Type owners who have contacted me with information about the cars they own. As there seems to be no register for owners, we arehappy to start the ball rolling and try and find and document as many of the estimated 60 plus cars that were produced by BRA. I do know that at least one kit has remained incomplete and may shortly be coming onto the market looking for someone to finish the car and register it.
If you would like to have details of your car included on this website, please contact us using the email on the contact page and we can agree a format for the register and what information / photographs you are happy to have published.
Updated November 2011
The re-designed rear wings have now been finished and provide a much improved line to the car.
Work in now underway re-designing the chassis to improve the positioning of the engine and gearbox, reduce the deflection of the propshaft to reduce the strain on the UJs and to the develop the 5 link rear suspension. One of our chassis jigs will be left as it is to enable spares to be made for existing P-Type owners whilst the other will be modified to accomodate the changes. It is anticipated that the new chassis will provide more rigidity whilst keeping any necessary changes to the bodywork to a minimum. Photos to follow in due course.
Updated June 2011
We have recently acquired the sole manufacturing rights to this attractive 1930’s inspired car. It was originally produced in the 1980’s and 1990’s by Beribo Replica Automobiles Ltd (commonly known as BRA) and was based on the running gear from the robust and popular MGB car.
We have the original factory chassis jigs and body moulds and so can provide replacement components to owners of the original cars. We can carry out full bodywork and mechanical repairs to these cars should owners so wish.
We are also redeveloping the chassis to accommodate more sophisticated suspension, especially at the rear where we intend to fit a 5 link suspension set up. This will not only improve the handling dynamics compared to the standard leaf spring, but also enable us to clean up the rear of the car, re-make the dummy fuel tank and do away with the exposed rear chassis rails which were universally criticized on the original BRA car.
The body panels and main tub have been made from the original moulds by "Applied Fibreglass" who are based close by. We are considering whether to modify the main tub to provide suicide doors although our first demonstrator will retain the original front hinged doors. Other chages envisaged include remaking the dummy fuel tank, changes to the floor to accommodate the new rear suspension, changes to the front radiator shell and front apron, and changing the rear wings to bring them down lower at the rear. It is hoped that the long front wings will be suitable for the IVA.
Work is now progressing on completeing the rolling chassis. It is still hoped that all development work will have been completed by 2012 when we will be re-introducing the car to the public.
We aim to not only supply complete, hand built cars to customers’ specification, but also to supply the cars in component form to those customers wishing to complete the build themselves.
We would also like to thank those existing owners and other enthusiasts who have contact us since we acquired this project.
Please contact us for further details.
